4th Annual Dermatology Nurses’ Association Summer Meeting to Arrive in Windy City
Dermatology Nurse Professionals to Convene in Chicago, August 2-3
Chicago, Ill. — From acne to wound care and everything in between, dermatology nurses and related professionals play a critical role in providing quality health care to their patients.
The Dermatology Nurses’ Association (DNA) will offer dermatology professionals the latest information, in a variety of learning formats and the profession’s best networking opportunities during the annual summer conference slated for Aug. 2-3 at the Chicago Hilton.
Enhance Your Dermatological Know-How
The 4th annual summer meeting features a broad array of dermatology care issues where participants may earn up to 13.25 nursing contact hours. Programs will get underway on Saturday, Aug. 2 with a nurse practitioner forum. The ever-popular DNA dermatology nursing basics course will also be offered that day, as well as a cosmetic/laser workshop.
The Fundamentals of Phototherapy: The Joan Shelk Memorial Workshop will be offered on Aug. 2 in tribute to Shelk, a past president of the DNA. The intensive, one-day training is aimed at those administering light therapy under a doctor’s supervision. This workshop covers psoriasis and other photo-responsive skin diseases: PUVA, narrow and broad band UVB therapy, equipment operation and metering and other responsibilities associated with phototherapy administration.
On Sunday, Aug. 3, DNA will offer a half-day skin cancer prevention workshop. According to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common of all cancers. It accounts for nearly 50 percent of all cancers in the United States. More than 1 million cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed each year.

Conference attendees will stay at the upscale Chicago Hilton, which is known for exceptional luxury, a long list of amenities, including a fitness center, a heated indoor pool and high-speed internet access. The downtown Chicago hotel is within walking distance of Windy City hot spots like the John Hancock Center, Lakeshore Drive, Magnificent Mile shopping, The Museum of Contemporary Art and Northwestern University.
